Qualicum Beach Seniors’ Activities Centre Updates

September 10, 2020

Hi Everyone:

As we progress through September we will be posting several updates which will include programs and activities that will be coming available in the Seniors’ Activities Centre, the Qualicum Beach Community Hall and the Civic Centre. As well, we will be providing updates on other events, as they are finalized.

We are happy to announce the pilot for our new website.  Les McLean has spent a number of hours creating and editing the site so that this pilot could be launched on September 8.  We would like you to look at it and provide comments and ideas. We will be linking the old site to the new site so that most of the content will not be lost. The new site provides some new opportunities for links, easier updates and changes, and best of all we will be able to pass on the management of the site so that it can continue to function for future webmasters as time moves on.

The Centre is starting Bridge with a small group of players, later this month. Due to Covid-19 there will be very strict procedures that have to be followed. First and very important is that there will be no drop-in players. If you are interested, please phone Win Gaetz at 250-752-9229.

She will put you on the list of interested players. When a place becomes available you will be phoned and the procedures explained to you. Remember, there will be no drop-in players.

Everything is booked for the barbeque at Morningstar Farm (Little Qualicum Cheese Works) from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Monday, September 21. We have arranged to have 10 tents spaced 10 feet apart with a 4X4 table in each tent. We ask you to bring your own chair so that we do not have to hire a moving company to help us set up. The Ramblers will be providing the music. There will be corn on the cob, a choice of bratwurst or European wieners with bun, sauerkraut if you wish, either bbq beans or chili (still undecided) and dessert. The farm and the store will be open for self guided tours.

Tickets are $20, must be paid for in advance and we are limited to 40 participants in order to meet the Covid19 gathering requirements. We will strictly adhere to social distancing and place people at tables where they are comfortable with the social bubble. So gather 4 friends and book your tickets through Margaret Rothe at 250-752-5454.

Once again we will be offering the regular flu shots through the Seniors’ Centre. If you would like to register, please call Margaret Rothe at 250-752-5454.

Please note that the price for Janie’s bus trip to Powell River/Lund on the Sept. 23 should be $159.
